A message from Christine M. Candio, President and Chief Executive Officer and Eugene M. Toombs, Chairman of the Board

Welcome to St. Luke’s Hospital’s 2017 Annual Report to the Community. We are pleased to share a glimpse of this past year, illustrating how St. Luke’s continues to strengthen its network of care and build on its commitment to a healthier community.

One of the biggest developments was the completion of our new 40 million dollar, five-story, 106,000-square-foot outpatient building. The Mr. and Mrs. Theodore P. Desloge, Jr. Outpatient Center Building B opened in January, providing space for expansion of numerous outpatient services and physician offices, helping us better meet the community’s growing health needs today and in the future.

Strong connections continued to be a theme for us in 2017. We are proud to be the only independent hospital in the greater St. Louis area and we value the affiliations, collaborations and partnerships – locally, regionally and nationally – that enable us to enhance and expand services.

  • Our affiliation with Cleveland Clinic’s Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart and Vascular Institute continues to build upon our history of excellence in cardiac and vascular care by offering patients in the region the highest level of care in the country.
  • Through our partnership with the Center for Diagnostic Imaging and ProSight Radiology Group, in November we opened a new outpatient imaging center in Ellisville, offering the first high-field open MRI in west St. Louis County, in addition to low-dose CAT scan and X-ray.
  • St. Luke’s recently joined a clinically integrated network. This collaboration with other healthcare providers and businesses in a four-state area provides the opportunity to further enhance the quality of care and access to St. Luke’s services through commercial payer and narrow network employer contracts.

Providing exceptional care is at the core of everything we do. St. Luke’s is proud to be nationally recognized over the years for our clinical quality and exceptional patient satisfaction, and 2017 was no exception.

  • Our patient satisfaction scores, when compared locally and nationally, continue to be among the best, exceeding national benchmarks in multiple areas.
  • 2017 was also a year of clinical innovations with the adoption of new technology for breast cancer treatment, expansion of our lung cancer screening program and development of a new program that enhances care and support for patients diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers.

What started as a single hospital 150 years ago has grown into an advanced network of care with 26 locations across St. Louis and St. Charles Counties. This would not be possible without our dedicated team members, the vital philanthropic support of generous donors and the commitment of our community. Together, they help us continually advance our charitable mission.

Thank you for viewing the 2017 annual report. We are proud to share how we are growing and strengthening our network of care, and the many ways we are working to create a healthier community today and for the future.
